Dormans Axel – Managing Director

Holder of a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from the well-known ISGH in Belgium, a professional certification in Financial Management from HOSPA in London, as well as in Real Estate Investment and Asset Management from Cornell University in New York, Axel has had an outstanding career since entering the hotel industry at the age of 15.

After having held several positions in operations (F&B, Room Division and Events) during around 10 years, it was in 2007 that Axel moved to his first position in Finance at the Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo. Following this first position, he never stopped holding positions in finance in emblematic 5* properties such as Assistant Financial controller at the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel & Resort (Relais & Châteaux – SBM Group), Financial Controller at the Hôtel d'Angleterre Geneva (Red Carnation Hotel Collection) and Director of Finance at the Hôtel le Richemond (at that time Dorchester Hotel Collection).

In 2022 he joined the hotel management company So Hospitality pertaining to the leading european hotel real estate investment firm Covivio Hotels, where he performed asset management duties and operated as CFO a portfolio of 10 hotels in France and Belgium (with a total of 1’200#, mainly 4 and 5*, 3 independents and 7 under franchise agreements 2 IHG, 3 Marriott, 2 Accor).

Within this position, he was involved in some transition management duties; with the takeover of 2 Accor hotels in Belgium (with conversion from management contract to franchise), a Marriott/Meridien hotel in the south of France (with conversion from management contract to franchise) and of rebranding and renovation of one hotel from Crowne Plaza (IHG) to Hilton/Hilton.

Part of his job was also to perform feasibility studies and business plans for the owning company Covivio Hotels to identify future investments and acquisition/disposal of assets opportunities.
